Wythenshawe Good Neighbours (WGN) is a volunteer led community initiative that has undergone several guises over the last 10 years.
WGN was started by Marie Greenhalgh, a Peel Hall resident, in 2010 and created as an unfunded community initiative, with an idea to use underused social spaces to host coffee mornings, lunches and afternoon teas for older members of the community.

Marie soon found allies and support in the community and she applied for funding with Manchester City Council to start a good neighbour group.
Endorsed by the late Paul Goggins MP and latterly Mike Kane MP, fast forward 4 years, and WGN became a community interest company registered with companies house in August 2014.

Marie thought it would be fitting to model WGN around her dad’s attitude to ageing and volunteering. We can all inspire, invest and include others in our community to enjoy a full life.

Every Friday
10am - 12pm
DigiFox, run by Equans, is a digital workshop initiative designed to help individuals enhance their understanding of technology, devices, and online safety. The workshop offers hands-on guidance on using smartphones, tablets, and computers, catering to those who may feel less confident with modern tech. Participants learn essential skills such as navigating the internet, setting up devices, and understanding digital security measures to protect their personal information online. DigiFox aims to bridge the digital divide by empowering people with the knowledge and confidence to engage safely and effectively in the digital world.

Strawberry Fox is an environment within Pioneer House High School that it utilised for many curriculum based events. Whilst these are not open to the public, unless invited, you can gain an overview of how our cafe is used for many areas of our educational delivery.

Our cafe becomes the home to Chatter Fox. This is a collaboration with Digital Advantage as sees our students become podcasts stars as they discuss a series of topics. Our podcasts are available on Spotify.
Variety Children's Charity

We recently had an amazing opportunity with our friends at Delamere school to take part in filming a promotional video for the Variety Childrens Charity’s 75th Anniversary video.
It was a very exciting day for all the staff and the students in the Strawberry Fox. We hosted a full film crew and the students involved all got to see what goes on behind the scenes at a video production.
The Mayor of Manchester visiting Pioneer House

Pioneer House enjoyed a visit from our Manchester Mayor ‘Andy Burnham’. He visited our fabulous new café and came to find out more about our ‘Music Therapy’ interventions and to listen to some of the members of our fabulous choir! He joined in the fun, playing the tambourine, had a sing along and had a lovely chat with our choir members. He was blown away by our amazing students and had a wonderful visit. He said he would love to come back again soon!
